Synopsis[]

The issue begins with Invincible and Atom Eve taking on The Elephant. Invincible punches the villain out and Atom Eve traps him in a pink force field. Atom Eve is pleased with a job well done but Invincible doesn't seem that thrilled. He thinks The Elephant is ridiculous and that he should be handling much more important things. He suddenly stops in the middle of his sentence and when Atom Eve looks over Invincible has disappeared.

In another dimension, the Tick is looking around his house for something. He tells Arthur about a gun that he had that could send him to another dimension and how he was going to destroy it but got distracted because cartoons came on. Now he can't find it. Arthur is alarmed but Tick figures that they don't know anyone that could do damage with a super ray gun.

At the same time at a prison, Chairface has broken out. He tells his men to gather all his best men and meet him at his mansion. But when he gets home, Chairface finds that someone has broken in and is sitting on his throne chair. Martin of Mars is surrounded by his minions and tells Chairface that he is taking over as king of crime in the city.

Soon after that, Bumbling Bee calls Tick and tells him to get down to Chairface's house. She tells him that there is a huge supervillain war going on. She's there with Ducky, Man-O-War, and Running Guy but says that they aren't going to be enough and they need backup.

Tick and Arthur take off running but the fight is over by the time they get there. Martin of Mars won the battle. Tick walks into Chairface's house and finds Martin of Mars holding his missing ray gun. Martin tells Tick that he is impressed that Tick has avoided all his attempts to ruin him so far. He also knows that the Tick's invulnerability would protect him from Martin's strength and other powers.

That is why Martin took the ray gun. He has calibrated the gun to reach across the multiverse and summon the strongest creature in all the known universes: a Viltrumite. He fires the gun and Invincible materializes. Martin tells Invincible to destroy Tick and then they can destroy the world together. Invincible just asks him why he wants to destroy the world. Martin replies that that is his way but then he looks closer at Invincible and wonders where his mustache is. Invincible tells Martin that he has bad news for him because he is one of the good guys. This scares Martin and he takes off running with his minions.

Tick tells Invincible that he wished he had the power of intimidation through lack of a mustache. Invincible introduces himself and Tick does the same. Invincible says he's done the name thing before and looks at the rest of the Tick's team. Using "The Tick" as a guide as to how they name themselves, Invincible tries to guess everyone's else's name and comes up with Fat Rabbit (Arthur), Bee (Bumbling Girl), Ducky, Jellyfish (Man-O-War), and Running Guy. Arthur is embarrassed at how close Invincible's teasing names were.

Tick, Arthur, Invincible take off to try and find Martin. Arthur and Tick tell Invincible about how they kind of stopped Chairface before. Invincible thinks their villains sound pretty easy and fun to fight. He always has to fight for his life against his boss, his own dad, evil versions of himself, and other Viltrumites. He doesn't think stealing a ray gun from this Martin guy will be too tough and he can get back to his own dimension no problem. They run across Ichthuhuu while traveling across the city. Invincible thinks they need to stop and take out the monster but Tick explains to him that the monster isn't really a threat.

They find Martin's hideout and break through the wall. Martin orders his mindless viscous automatas to attack them. Invincible gets a big grin on his face when he hears that the creatures are mindless and basically just jelly robots. He gets to cut loose and there is a two page spread of Invincible and Tick joyfully tearing through all the jelly creatures.

Martin runs away again and tries to prep a large bomb. But the heroes follow him too quickly for him to get the bomb ready so he turns around and fires his eye lasers at them instead. Arthur pushes Tick out of the way and gets hit with the blast. The blast vaporizes him and his costume falls empty to the floor. Tick starts crying and looks at Martin, furious that he just killed Arthur.

Martin starts backing away and tries to claim it was just a huge mistake. Before Tick can grab him, Martin calls into the Mars' base and has them teleport him away. Tick holds on to Arthur's costume and realizes that he was actually vulnerable emotionally. Invincible asks Tick how long he can hold his breathe and picks him up and starts flying for Mars.

Invincible and Tick reach Mars at incredible speeds and slam into Mars' moon. The moon goes flying into Mars right on top of Martin. Martin is pinned under the moon and begs them to free him. But they aren't sympathetic and leave him trapped there.

They get back to Earth and Invincible tells Tick how sorry he is for what happened to Arthur. Tick thanks Invincible for his help and then grabs him for a big hug. Tick picks up the ray gun, hopes that the settings for Invincible's dimension weren't changed, and shoots Invincible with it.

Invincible arrives back in his own dimension and Atom Eve comes running up, worried about where he went when he just suddenly disappeared. Mark is still feeling emotional and he pulls Atom Eve into a hug and tells her he just wants her to know that he loves her.

Back in the Tick's dimension, the rest of Tick's friends arrive to find out what happened. They are shocked when they learn that Arthur was killed and Bumbling Bee gives Tick a hug. Tick isn't sure what he is going to do without his best friend Arthur. But his grief is cut short by the arrival of an older looking Arthur in a cooler, tougher looking costume.

This Arthur tells Tick that he is Orson, the Arthur from the forties. He says that he's fought his way through three decades and thousands of alternate Earths to reach Tick. He knew that Tick would need his help bringing his Arthur back to life.
